Need donations for Kingdom Combat Archery Cache

Post by Fergus »

Hail all and Well met,
I have decided to take this "personal" endeavor on and help create a Kingdom Archery Cache. I am a member of the newly formed Kingdom of Gleann Abhann and a pretty avid combat archery participant. (Yeah Yeah I know you hate combat archerers, unless they are shooting on your side :)
I'm a heavy also!!!
I would like you all to look around and see if you have some combat archery equipment/supplies that you're not using or will never use again and either donate or sell at minimal expense for use in putting together this Cache. I can also pay for shipping of donated equipment but funds are limited due to Katrina and Christmas. I'm trying to do this before Gulf Wars to present to the Kingdom Archery Marshal for use at this War for the Kingdom and it's allies. Anyone or group that donates will get there name put on a Caligraphied scroll that my wife will make to present with the Cache.

All equipment donations will be accepted with my personal thanks. The arrows/bolts do not have to be assembled. If you just have parts send them please. I'll be doing all the assembling, labeling, retrofiting, reconditioning, etc....

Thinks I'm in desparate need of:
Fiberglass shafts
Fletchings
APDs
Blunts (legal) If you don't know what's legal anymore just let me know what you have and I'll do let you know.
Bows (legal)

I will also take donations of any weaponry, armour, all most anything, etc.. that can be auctioned to supply money for archery equipment purchases and you will also be given credit for donating towards the Archery Cache.

If you are a combat archery supplier and would like to sell or donate let me know also.

I will keep a running list on this post of all Donations and pledges so that everyone can make sure they are on the list and spellings of are correct for purposes of the Scroll.

Let me say again this is a "personal" endeavor and not originated by anyone but me.

Thanks all,
Shoot you at Gulf Wars, um, I mean, see ya at Gulf Wars,
In Service to the Dream,
Fergus MacNeill of Dragoun's Weal
Kingdom of Gleann Abhann

Catherine's Quest is no longer in business. I may open back up at some point in the future. Thank you all for all of your support over these last few years. It has meant the world to me.

From http://www.sca.org/officers/marshal/com ... lement.pdf -
All arrows shall be clearly marked for identification with the name of the user. For interkingdom wars the name of the kingdom shall be included as well to make it easier to locate the maker/owner of the arrows.

So, how will that work - whose name goes on the cache arrows? Can you simply call the user "Gleann Abhann Kingdom Archery Cache", or do they get re-labeled for each event witrh the actual user's name?

They can have a persons name, a group, company or household name. They have to have someone responsible for them on the label. Not sure about just having a kingdom wide name on them. I would guess that decision would be made by the CAM and the Society CAM.

Fearghus my friend do you actually think I am going to send you stuff so you can shoot them back at me. :D Honestly, if it wasn't the fact that my company has about 6 new combat archers that need outfitted I would see what I could send you. Glad to hear that you made it through the storm ok and am looking forward to seeing you all this spring.

Now I always try and shoot with you Texas/Oklahoma Guys :) Trimarians usually have plenty of archerers (Definitely to many arrows per person). But I don't know since the Kingdom split who/what/when/and where we will be siding with. I'm sure it has already been decided between the Crownes but I don't know.
Looks like the Kings Arrow site is shaping up. I went by there a few weeks ago and they are cleaning up so hopefully it will be in good shape for the War. Would be nice to have some trees down in the Ravine for cover/barricades (barring holes everywhere). I see some broken ankles in the works this year.

As far as labeling goes, it is ok to list the kingdom cache name on these as the Kingdom Combat Archery Marshall will probably be responsible for them. I'll find out for sure on this one, or if any Combat archery marshalls can sound off with thier two cents worth it would be greatly appreciated.

Take care and see y'all at the War,
Fergus

Fergus you're alive!!!! Man, it's good to see you made it through all the mess, hopefully none the worse for the wear. I do have to second Iaen though, I'd sure hate to be shot with equipment I gave you...

We'll make sure we catch up with you when we get there, I'll see what I can bring to give to the cause.

We need to get together and go eat some Catfish on Saturday.
