FS Four Core Reverse Twist Scean Dbue

Post by Robert P. Norwalt »

Needing some dough to flesh out my Horse's Cataphract Armour.

Very Nice damascus blade. O1 / 1095 mix. $450. Technically one of the hardest, (time consuming) blades I've done. Buffalo horn handle with copper bands.

Robert,
Do you use a trip hammer for doing your Damascus?

By the way, very cool little blade.

I have a Air Hammer, for drawing some billets. I also use a treddle hammer, and Macho Plainishing hammer.

That piticular bittet was done by hand, five+ year ago under the eye, advise, wisdom, tuttage, and hammer of my Mentor; Charles Kain, of Designs by Kain in Greenwood Indiana. He (not I,) is one of the worlds best fantasy damascus folder Makers.
I had never done a four core at that point in Apprenticeship, and he did most of the work in the forge. I ground it, hardened and tempered, polished, etched, and handled it. All total it took me more than two weeks, w/ some trade off work, and knowing I'd never "get my money out of it" I put it up for $800 on my web site, and forgot about it, knowing I wouldn't get it. But I'm Jonesing for Period tack for my Belgian, and am selling some of my more beloved knives and seaxs off. Apparently desire trumps pride. LOL!
