Lord Thomas, I think it escapes conflict by virtue of being semé -- you have a field Sable plus something semé and that's all, versus a field Or and an overall charge. In the one, the fleurs w/annulets are a metal, in the other, one fleur and it's a tincture. So you get the CVDs of differing colors of field, and colors and differing position of charges.

This squire of mine is about as far away from a Boy scout as one can get. He's a scarey, evil son-of-a-bitch. He fights only a few times a year (and his kit is great) and does not give a damn about device conflicts with the true French Royals.
He's mean.

I must admit that the best prospects for potentially good fighters here are often mean, mean, mean.

Jehan and Ingram are more erudite and scholarly, but they are also extremely tough, just not cruel.
