I am sorry if some people don't wan't to play. I still think its worth a shot. I am getting some good response but I understand its not everyones idea of a good time.

The way I see it is as a worst case scenario, a couple of dozen more fighters show up at Aethelmark war practice than might otherwise, my buddies and I get our asses kicked and I buy a lot of beer for all and sundry.

Still sounds like a good time to me.

Edited to add:
Just curious, what kind of negative response?
Is it "just who does he think he is..."
or is it "those guys are assholes and I don't wanna dirty my swords on em."

The tribes and Mercs are absoultely neccesary for the dynamic of the Game to reflect medieval reality. I agree.

Looks like fun to me guys, I will see if I can fit it in my schedule. At Pennsic would be cool as it is only one battle its not like its over shadowing Pennsic, there are others giants and dwarfs, lost boys battle, crusader battles and so forth. I think Pennsic would be a great place and I am speaking from an informend position as I will be war king for the Middle. I just hope guys see it as fun and not grudge match.

I would just like to say that even for a guy who joined around a year ago, thank you to all who answered both within persona and out (especially those who did both). I think this really goes to show all newer people who wander onto the archive that everyone can both be "outraged at the perpertrations of these dog-whipped scum" and still throw that last little "can't wait

" in at the end that says that we really are friends on here and not everyone hates each other as some arguements might indicate. Sorry for the bandwidth, and upset I cant make it. Have fun, that is what this game is all about and I think that Nissan hit it on the head with this proclimation.

My honorable liege, Sir Bryce de Byram has duties to Crown and Kingdom on this weekend and will be unable to bring his full lance to the fray.

He has granted me the honor and privledge to stand with the noble knights and thier vassals for this great battle. So I shall make ready my war harness and be ready to stand upon the field of battle.

Being a lone squire, I am seeking to join in service to noble and great House, so that I may bring my sword in Sir Bryce's name and so bring him and his House honor. I would first seek out any knights of Atlantia, but should none have room for me, I would stand with any who would have me.

I know your lord well, we have had many a good time singing together in many a bardic circle, as well as crossing many a sword against and with each other, when I was a squire in Atlantia.

Just be forewarned, I will be in the middle of it all, since me and my boys are part of His Highness, Malcolms bodyguard. So we plan on having a lot of fun, making sure no heathen takes his precious little head. :p

Perhaps you could do this, say, during the first week of Pennsic? It would give me incentive to come earlier. Most of the war fighting occurs the second week.

Pennsic has its own storyline, East vs. Middle. Not Mercs vs the world. People go to the war to play in the classic story and I wouldn't wan't to step in that.

About 15 or so years ago the Tuchux wanted to take on everyone and it didn't work out, people are emotionally invested in Pennsic the way it is. The chux commited violent hysterical murder on each other and then it was East vs Middle.

Aethelmark war practice is managable and if it works there without ending in tears maybe it will lead to bigger things.

Hey, didn't I just bribe *you* to thump somebody for me? This is getting to be a habit...

While I won't be on the armored field this year (time constraints, my kit being a shambles and the fact that I haven't been in armor in a freakin' LONG time now being only some of the causes) I know his Highness has a passing familiarity with rapier combat, having faced him this past Pennsic. If he wishes to thump me I invite him to join me on the field for a few passes; in fact I would enjoy this greatly. Perhaps, since we've set the times so that the armored and rapier combats don't conflict, he might even be convinced to take part in the melee scenarios. Regardless of which side he stands for it would be an honor to have him join us.

Why can't you guys do this a little later in the year! I can get much cheaper plane tickets in late june!

And while I have actually swam in maille (at least technically) I will not swim the atlantic ocean. It would be unfair to the sharks.

This looks like it would be a blast! Why in the world would anybody not want to play?
