Polishing

Post by Armour Design »

Hi Belmo,

I put up a bit on polishing a while ago if it's any help - www.armourdesign.co.uk/tools.htm

I have to say it does take ages to get a good finish!

Sometimes the polishing wheel is clogged with black, overheated compound.

I remove that by "polishing" the edge of a wooden plank.

Then put some new compuond on the wheel, or just "write" some of it directly on the warm metal....

The overheated compound is polluted with black ironparticles and just smears
your surface...

Hope this helps.

order o fcompounds and wheels

Post by Sagebowman »

When buffing out armour pieces, are certain compounds (tripoli, rouge)used with certain wheel types (stitched or compressed) for the different steels in certain order? SS or mild differences? Also, do you go over the a piece with several different compounds?
Thanks,
Gene
