Chicago armorers?

Post by WaaaghBoss »

I am interested in learning to make armor- wondering if there is anyone near Chicagoland who could help me out.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I'm actually in Milwaukee, but we could arrange for you to come up from time to time. I do know that Master Talbot, and Lord Pheylin Quinn are in or near Chicago.

Technically, Master Cad, they are closer to Milwaukee than Chicago. They are both in or near Wauconda, IL (Far north and somewhat west of Chicago).

So, have you checked out the local SCA groups yet? Go to www.sca.org and click on "Groups near you." They might have someone bashing away in his garage.

Yep, just "found" the SCA, and am going to be using some loaner armor from the Grey Gargoyles until I can procure some of my own. However, they gots nobody currently making it themselves (not that anyone I have talked to knows about anyway). Thanks for the tip, but already tried that.
BTW~ As fortune would have it, the North side of Chicago group has practice 6 blocks from my house and I never had a clue. The South side group (the aforementioned GG) have practice where I work! How funny.

At Grey Gargoyles ask to be put in touch with Bojei, She has the armor making stuff (including the Beverly shear). I think she is up in Franklin Park. She is hosting a "Pennsic Sew-a-thon" on the 27th.
