linking 6-in-1 to 4-in-1

I have a question for all you chainmail gurus out there: I am making a hauberk that incorporates several different weaves (main body and legs are 4-in-1, shoulders and upper back are king's mail). But I would like to have a large section in the chest area made of 6-in-1 in the shape of a sort of internal dag. In other words, it would appear as a tapering dag of 6-in-1 inside a normal 4-in-1 weave. So here is my question--it is reletively easy to link 4-in-1 to 6-in-1 horizontally or vertically, but how about at an angle like a tapering piece would possess? Any help would be tremendous!

If you have a row (section) of 6-in-1 maille, you can convert it to 4-in-1 by adding a new row on to the end, skipping every other ring that you'd normally put in for 6-in-1. (Subsequent rows below this add on as regular 4-in-1, making the transition row "5-in-1".)

you can do a "seamless" change from 4/1 to 6/1 and back by changing the ring size, while keeping the ring gauge the same.
I did a haubergon a few years back that was primarily in 3/8 14 gauge 4:1 (butted) with a "plastron" of 1/2 in 14 gauge 6:1 pattern
