Possible Helm Commision

Post by Sixtus_Goetz »

Greetings,

I have 2 questions about helm patterns. I have to friends. One wants a Mongul helm made for him and the other wants a custom visor made for his basinet < willing to send in for fitting>.

Mongul friend has yet to find an SCA legal Mongul helm that he likes. Visor for Basinet visor would need to be made from a picture that was taken at Leeds Royal Armory.

Any takers on either one of these? Both know it will take time.

Thanks

Saranac Goetz.

P.S. I do realize that most of the armorers are out at Pennsic, but since it was brought up to me last night, figured I'd see if I got any nibbles for them.

Some questions;
1. how much are they looking to spend
2. what type of visor for the bascinet?
3. what type of metal(stainless, mild?) and is this for sca combat?
4. what kind of time frame are they wanting this done in?

I've done a few SCA mongol helms, both with round and onion tops. I'll send a pic of an onion top turco/persian, pics of a round top style will have to wait until the owner gets back from Pennsic. If either style looks like what your friends wanting let me know.
