Q: Physical Therapy for Knees

Hello all,
I’m going to ask this here because I know that knee trouble is a frequent problem for Scadians and I assume that it is a frequent problem for anyone who performs athletics wearing a heavy kit. I'm posting it here rather than off-topics as most of the stuff in off-topics is silly where as this portion of the board regularly discusses physical training aspects.
My left knee has experienced pain for quite some time. This is typically most severe following a particularly painful practice where my left leg gets hit often. After an hour plus drive home I attempt to stand up and find my leg muscles have cramped up. This causes sideways shifting of the knee. I saw a physical therapist for a few months. Now the pain is less after bad practices and doesn’t last as long but still there.
My right knee is recent. I dropped from a leg shot and as I landed a lame somehow worked its way under the padding. My weight drove my knee-cap down onto the lame (and buried it into the dirt). I actually felt the “springinessâ€Â

Find and read the books by Pete Egoscue. (I think that is the correct spelling?)

ONce you understand the physical realities of what is happening to your knees, you will understand how to help them fix themselves, both before fighting and every day.

His stuff has been AMAZINGLY helpful for several people I know, including my Mom, who was told she would not be able to walk in two years.. 10 years ago.

I had ACL reconstruction surgery last year. Squats and Yoga are my two friends now where my knee is concerned. But both must be executed with concentration toward good form in order to maximize benefit and prevent further injury.

The knee is a darned simple joint. Knee trouble usually happens because of something in the hips or ankles... otherwise, I'd check that book. (Oh, I can't wait to get back under a squat bar, too...)
