maille questions

Post by pavlovsdog »

Hi,
I'm just starting my first project in maille, and was wondering if anyone has some pointers. Also, what is a good gauge to use. I just cut about two hundred in 14 gauge and now have bruises all along my palm.

thanks,
Brian

Go to http://chainmaille.prohosting.com/ and check out the Research pages or just about anywhere else. Look at the gallery of nice pictures, and have fun

There's a fairly lengthy essay (book excerpt) here on the Archive -- http://www.armourarchive.org/essays/book__practical_chainmail/

Go to www.theringlord.com . Absoultely the best instrustional site for chainmaille on the internet. You can also get supplies there, but I haven't checked their prices.

Buy some fingerless gloves. I found some at a local hardware store, but you might find them at a sporting goods store also. The ones I found had padded palms.
