spartan helmet
has anyone here ever constructed a spartan style helmet? if so, could you give some advice on how?
It could help if you specify what you mean: the Spartans used many different kinds of helmets. I imagine you are probably thinking of a Corinthian helmet -the kind that fully encloses the head, with a roughly T-shaped opening for the face (the standard 'Greek' helmet you see in reenactments, etc. although it was only common in the earlier periods).
I have not made one, but I have one that was made in parts, welded together. The crown was from two semi-circular halves, and then the back skirt and the face plate were added. It simplifies the work, but requires welding. The originals were raised from a single disc of bronze.
Hope this helps!
