Update:WTB Full gauntlets. ***Ordered from Torvaldr***

Post by Scorpus »

I need some full gauntlets for SCA fighting. I need some that are light weight and strong, maybe cuirboilli or that style. I need this for SCA sword and center hung sheild fighting so they will be behind either a sheild boss or a basket hilt, so low profile is best. If you have some please send me IM's with price, picture and location. They can be new or used as long as they don't cost an arm and a leg (no pun intended) and are quite functional. And of course I need them yesterday.... :D I have attached a diagram with my hand measurements. My hand is fairly normal witha somewhat long palm. Thank you.

I make light weight HDPE plastic gauntlets that are pretty tough. They run $100 US per pair, plus $15 for shipping. You can see pics on my page, follow the link.

I went and looked at them. I can't see that they bridge the fingers/thumb very well to prevent crush damage from a hand shot or is it just the pictures? If it is just the photos angle can you provide more refute that please? I am in no way criticizing your work. I just don't want my fingers crushed....:D Thank you.

I use a pair of Dalewyn's gauntlets and, while I've only been fighting in them for about 3 months, I've had no problems once i started making sure my fingers were under my thumb. The last finger plate is generously long and flexible, making it cover your hand in 360 degrees while still allowing you to move your fingers around. Just make sure you pad them or wear street hockey gloves to take some of the sting out. How they compare to more traditional steel clamshells I can't say.
