Peter Lyons 14th cent long sword ( sword maker to LOTR )

Post by Vlad007 »

It is with deep regret that I have to sell this one of a kind Peter Lyons 14th-century long sword. This sword has been my pride and joy and is in immaculate condition. Hardly used except for a few skill at arms displays for cutting cabbages from horse back. The blade is unmarked and is high quality spring steel. Peter Lyons who is a close personal friend of mine through jousting made this for me as one of his last production swords, because of his work with lord of the rings and weta workshop he does not make sword for the public any more. Any of you that have ever seen any of his work will know the quality that I speak of and how nice his swords look and feel. It used to sit on my bed but I have just got married and now my wife sits there instead. ( she is a little warmer than the sword). Because of change of circumstances and recently getting married I can no longer afford to keep this sword. Please email me simon.tennant@world-net.co.nz if you are interested, will post pictures very soon! Serious enquires only

Specifications
Steel cross and wheel pommel, fitted to a fuller blade. Tang passes through grip and pommel.
• Blade - 80 cm
• Overall - 95 cm
• Weight - 1.3 kg

Very nice piece. Three questions: Is it rebated or sharpened, does it have a scabbard, and how much were you hoping to get for it?

It's simply beautiful. I should think 650us is a nice opening bid. You are offering this on sword forum yes?

I wish I had the cash to make an offer. But I dont. Sigh....

Hey Simon,

You would be offering this when I have no money .

I'll shop it around with some of my WMA folks (and if you still have it by the time Rod's tourney rolls around, and he gets around to inviting me, perhaps I can bring home a shiny "present" from Australia
