raising heat laminated material?

Hello.
I am working on learning mokume gane (basically pattern welding with non-ferrous metals), and I am wondering whether anyone has tried raising or manipulating plates of any kind of laminated metal?

Many modern steels are laminated, at least they can de-laminate if of poor quality. If the bands are well welded, it'll hold together so long as you're careful. If it seperates when you form it, you need to go back and improve your forgewelding.

I haven't done any mokume-gane, or even work with laminated steel presonally, but people on the Sandbox mailing list have. Try signing up at Artmetal.com and asking there if you don't get some good responses here.

I registered onto artmetal yesterday and just posted a few questions on mokume-ness. Right now I am just f^&%ing sick of all my glass pieces being a quarter inch thick or something, no matter how much the teacher tells me I need to make them thinner, so I'm gonna fuse me up a good few sheets of the stuff from some scrap pauldron blanks and nickels and scrap bronze and copper etc. and raise me a few vessels. I was inspired by a simple milk jug with an easy spout which I took a look at while helping los parentes make a mini batch of the best peach and ginger jam we've ever done (oh my gosh! soooo good!) I put it back almost immediately because there's a few moths living in there, but I'll do something like it if possible, and mr glass man won't be able to say it's too thick! ha!
