The norman helmet by Stanislav Prosek
Hi all,
I finished this norman helmet now.
The helmet is made complete from 2.0mm mild steel and the nosal is 3.5 mm.
I used the acrylic colour, because the oil colour get dry for a long time and the client has this helmet for battle at Hasstings next weekend.
Best regards Stanislav

I built a helmet like that last year and have thought about painting it. But Im not sure of what colors.

Hi Jim,
this colour scheme sended me the client and I made it according his wish.
The best colour, what you can use is oil colour. But it is problem, that oil colour dry up a long time.
The oil colour dry up even few weeks.
Best regards Stanislav
Very nice helm!
One thing that I still don't quite exactly understand is how the liner on most helms is attached. As there is a line of stitching going all around the edge of the helm, is a band of leather affixed to the inside rim of the helm when the metal of the helm is riveted together, and then the liner is sewn to the inner leather band? I think I have it figured out , but please correct me if I am wrong.
Also, I like that I can see neat brush strokes on the paint in the pictures; aerosol spray cans being somewhat rare at Hastings.
Please continue to spoil us with pics of your great work!

The helmet is rivet together on the second line.
At the first line is rivet only for strip of leather and to this strip is stitched on the lining.
