Review of Dirksmetalworks - Excellent

Post by Syrfinn »

Well dont have the helm in my hands yet, it should be arriving on Friday according to UPS.

But since I had already tried on a protoype, before Dirk did all the bronze work, just so we made sure that everything was good, before he got to work on the bronze. That should all be good.

Ordered the helm on the 26th of August, and will be getting the helm on 17th of November. So turn around on this helm was superb, specially with all the extra work I had done on it.

To say I love this helm, would be a severe understatement. Now I actually have to work my ass off to be worthy of actually wearing it. :)

Basically the bronze work is all done depicting different things or events that have happened in my SCA carreer.

Here are links to his site for the helm. All the pictures on the first page are of my helm.

Just once again, have to say, this is a beautiful helm, and can not wait to start wearing it.

Any questions on any of the bronze work, feel free to ask, will love to discuss it. :)

Thanks again to Dirk and Chamayn, for wonderful customer service, and wonderful work on a piece of art I get to wear on my head. :)

The link is o his website. He basically just has pics of his past works. I believe there is an email link on it also, for any questions.

As far as how much it cost, well it was a bit. :) $600 for the basic helm, then the customized bronze work was an additional $600. So yes, I paid $1200 for this, but well for me, it was well worth it, cause the helm is totally customized to me, and is one of a kind.

It could of been a lot cheaper, but I had about 12 different things I wanted customized into the bronze work, so thats why that came out so much. As in certain battle scenes, and certain tourneys, plus my knighting, my buffet and my cleansing.

Plus my three knights devices shown on the helm. Which are the devices you see on the nasal. The middle one is Yarl Kanes(center), who taught my heart how to care for this game, Duke Michael of Bedford(on the right), who taught me to have strength in my convictions, and Viscount Bear the Wallsbane(left), who taught me how to protect my kingdom.

Plus in various spots on the helm, I have my squire brothers and sister main charges pop up on the helm.

So there was a lot of detail, I asked for him to put into this, which he did superbly. I am beyond happy for this helm, and heck my wife even, after she has seen the final project, has taken back that she thinks I was crazy for paying that much for a helm. :) And says it was well beyond worth it.
