What was the inspiration for the facets on the "banana helm"?

This is a real Del Tin with a Windlass scabbard, bought later.
The blade is pretty darn good. It is just that the picture of it isn't.
I have a few of Del Tins myself. This is one of them.
I know this is a Del Tin because Windlass did not even make a knock-off of these ten-twelve years ago...which is the minimum age of this blade.
I bought this back when MRL was still selling Del Tin and not just Windlass crap.
Another trademark was the fact that I had to buy the scabbard much later...Del Tin did not sell scabbards with their blades, back in the day...as you may recall. You had to buy them separately and mostly they came from some third party, usually not Del Tin themselves.

Also....I will say this, Windlass' quality has risen quite a bit since the early 90's, but back when MRL made the switch to being an exclusive Windlass distributor, they were not capable of making this sword. If this was new, then there might be the possibility that it was a knockoff....because the Windlass Steelcrafts of today could probably make it.
But back then? This is not new, it just looks like new...another fact that points to it being a Del Tin. All my Del Tins are old and all of them look like new. All my Windlass swords are relatively new, and yet look old and shoddy. And the balance and flexibility....well....you can tell in about two seconds whether it is a Windlass or a Del Tin by how it handles.

I have no idea. Ask CLANG armoury. This was originally one of his.
I have seen a few period pieces of this type, but how that shape was developed is beyond my knowledge.

Is the blade maked Del Tin, Italy, or with their makers mark?

I can't find a maker's mark of any kind.
But nor is it marked "Windlass" or "Pakistan".
It was advertsied by MRL as being made by Del Tin...so I gotta assume it was made by them. It has the same qualities as my other Del Tins....I don't what else I can say.
If you aren't conviced, don't bid.
