¼ " felt

Post by Barnet »

So anyone have any good sources for ¼ inch felt (16 oz.?) to use for padding (trying to stay away from the evil blue foam (or any other color foam) in my kit.

I got mine from MSC.
Read the dimensions carefully, they size it strangely. For any decent sized project, you're going to have to buy a roll significantly larger than the project--the small size is too little and the large size is too much.

Whereever you get it it is expensive!

Here's a link to their felt sheeting.

I used this for my new gamboised cuisses. It protects as well as my older poly/wool carpet padding, but it's thinner.

I also plan to use it for a new gambeson, at least on the shoulders and maybe all over.

Nothing against Mcmaster-carr. I've ordered sorbothane from them in years past.

Nothing against McMaster-Carr either Sir Corby. It was just the first one that came to mind. Thanks for the new source. Adding to the already large collection of suppliers.

Has anyone used this for a gambeson? How does it breath? is it truly 100% wool felt?

Thanks in advance

Not yet, but I intend to. I currently use it on my gamboised cuisses.

I think it will breath reasonably well.

It is 100% wool. the stuff from MSC, that is.
