WTT/WTS Riveted maille

Post by LWCM »

Hello fellow archivers!

I am getting closer to offering riveted maille as a regular product and I thought that I would see if there was any interest in trading for my maille. Alternatively you could secure a spot on my production queue at a lower price before I figure out just how much work this all is and my prices go up :). So I guess this is a combination trade request and breaking my production queue open for riveted maille.

Now about the maille: I am in the process of securing a supply of 9.5mm ID rings so that will be the only size currently available. They come with the blackened finish common to other available maille, but I hope to offer them in a brighter finish in the future soon as I raise the funds for the cleaning tools. Order now and help me brighten my maille!

Timeframe: The timeframe will depend on where you would be on the production queue combined with other factors. These factors include the fact that maille only comes in one variety; time consuming. Riveted maille even more so. Also, I have a regular day job and go to school part time so my production time gets eaten up by life occasionally. I will always give you a time estimate and keep you informed of your commisions progress. I'm in front of a computer for 9 hours a day so keeping you informed is really easy.

References: If you want to ask former customers about me I would direct you to 2Shires, Lloyd, or UberFist as recent customers. I'm also currently working on a commission for Magmaforge.

Money and stuff: The only money I would need from you right now is enough to cover materials. The rest you can pay any time prior to your maille shipping out. However I am ordering all the materials at once so even if you are at the bottom of the queue I need the funds for materials so I can make your item when I work down to it. For trades I will still need the funds for your materials.

Available maille products trade/sale value:
Aventails starting at $340.00
Coifs starting at $325.00
Fauld/Brayette $10.50 per inch of waist size 15" hem length
Standards - $5.00 per inch of collar size
Voiders - When I finish my test piece I'll know
Tailoring/Repairs/Alterations $0.10 per ring

Anything you don't see on the list but are interested in? Just ask. (Edit - I am not making shirts at this time.)

(Edited to add picture)
Here's a picture of my riveting on an ongoing project. Note these rings are the ready to rivet rings from Forth Armoury, the ones I have now are not this shiny. They are blackened with (what smells like) an oil based process. Same riveting just darker rings.

Things I'd like to trade for.

Post by LWCM »

When I compiled this list of stuff I was trying to think of anything that I could possilbly want at the moment so that people who wanted to trade things would have a wider variety of things to choose from. Consequently the list is a liiitle bit long. My primary wanted items are any of the listed armor types, everything else is secondary at this point.

Things I would like to trade for:

Armor:
I tracked down some pictures of what I would like the armor to look like, I'm not specifically asking for these exact items. (I really need to start compliling a collection of museum pictures of extant pieces.) I'm looking for mild steel or brush finished stainless, no mirror polishes.

Arms:

Joe-

I may be in need of some voiders for my harness. I've got a Brig Gorget and some other bits and bobs lying around.

Would you have anything for display at Janesville?

Whonew, PM sent!

Hey Chris,

I'm hoping to have something done in time for Janesville, either an aventail or a coif. If nothing else I'll probably be working on it there (provided that recurring hammering doesn't annoy the other vendors).

Hammering won't bother folks. You're by a blacksmith and the cannons so, you won't be the issue!

I'd love to take a look at your stuff, and show you what I may need in person if that works for you.

I can see why you'd want A&A stuff in trade: I just wish I could get them to ever respond to an email...

would you be willing to work with rings that are already purchased? I have some smaller-i.d. rings that need working on, but the level of pushback I'm getting on some of my research has kept me from doing much in the way of crafts work this spring...

Chris,

By the cannons eh? How period accurate are earplugs? :). C'mon over to the booth and have a gander. As you saw at the Camelot event I get a bit 'tethered' to the booth so I'm always looking for a diversion, especially over two days.

Hi Russ,

I would definitely be willing to work with the rings that you have. Go ahead and PM me some more information on what you are looking for. The A&A and Albion items were tossed into the list as kind of a pie-in-the-sky, "that would sure be cool" list of stuff.

Joe-

I've got a bunch of rings from years ago that I had the best intentions of using. I'll bring them with to the Janesville Faire. I may have some things to trade you for as well (brig gorget, spaulders).
