Jousting/Display shields for sale.

Post by Vitus von Atzinger »

I have five late 14/early 15th century shields for sale. They can be prepared for display purposes (some coating) or for use in jousting (mega coating). Display- $60/Jousting $100

Yes, they are properly (concave) curved.

I have two that are 20" high x 14" wide

I have one that is 19" high x 14" wide

I have two that are 17" high by 14" wide

The one pictured is one of my personal display shields.

I have the same question as Trystan. Are these made for SCA jousting or Heavy Armour Jousting?

What are they made of? What is the thickness?

I have used quite a few different types of ecranche shields over the years and have had far too many break apart during their first joust (some, on the first pass). I think they look great, but I would like some feedback from jousters that have used them before I would buy (not a knock, just business).

Again, they look great!

I am willing but there are 2 considerations:

1. We are 16thCentury. They wont let me use that at the RenFaires.
2. I have never used one of those before, I would need one of the IJA guys to tell me how to wear it.

That said, size small please. I will try and get one of my brother Knights to take some passes at it this summer at local practice.

PS We are tourneying in Mufreesboro, TN on Memorial Day Weekend. 8)

Hey Trystan, let me know what ever help you'd need strapping something like that up. It's the kind of shield I use for the IJA stuff.

Vitus, I'm finally ready to buy a shield. I'd like one of your smallest, please, with the non-jousting coating prep. I'm getting blocked from looking at your site from work, so:

How do I pay you?
How fast can I get it?
Can I call you to work out the details fast? If so, can you PM me your number?

Thanks,
Tasha

Trystan, just tell Roy that it is your new "French" shield

Do give me a yell if you need any help on strapping, I have a picture that Rod sent me when I first got mine a couple of years back, if Jeremy doesn't have a good one.

Jeremy, I am helping Cassandra Adams at the Midwest Horse Show this weekend, but the entertainment directors from Silverleaf Ren faire will also be at my house. I will have more info on this year's Silverleaf Jousting Tournament for the IJA group then (this is an apology for not getting back to your question on the IJA USA board).

Vitus, sorry for temporarily hijacking the thread.

Please carry on!

Trystan, Llyod- I put the first coat on your shields today. I expect them to be done within a couple of weeks tops.
I'll be working on them as I finish my standing orders.
