IF YOU CAN'T LOG IN....

Post by JT »

First off, please refer to the Holy Crap! What Happened thread in this forum. It'll give you some background on what happened.
Here's a link to it: http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/ ... p?p=964967

  • If you joined the Archive sometime after April 30th 2007, but before late evening Jan 4th, 2008, then your registration is gone. You will need to re-register.
  • If you joined the Archive before April 30th 2007 but were not yet activated then your registration is almost certainly gone. To make my life easier, and to let you re-register more easily, I have purged the user registry of all entries where the user was not active, and had made 0 posts (i.e. was likely never activated) as of 30-April. You will need to re-register.
  • If you were active, but changed your password sometime between April 30 2007 and Jan 4 2008, then your account should still be there, but with the old password. If you can't remember it, there's a link on the login page for forgotten passwords. Please go there and get your password reset automatically if possible. Only as a last resort should you send an e-mail to me. The automated system will be faster for you, too.
  • If you were active, but changed your name sometime between April 30 2007 and Jan 4 2008, then your account should still be there, but with the old name. If you can't remember it, you may have to send me an e-mail. Please send it from the e-mail address that's in the user registry, so I know it's you. It's a pain to do lookups based on the e-mail address, so please... try to remember who you were. ;)

On the plus side for those who need to re-register, your registration can now be activated by you, rather than having to wait for me to activate your account. After you enter all your data, an e-mail will be sent to you with instructions on how to activate your account. If you don't get an e-mail in a short amount of time (15 minutes or so should be plenty), then please check your spam filters to see if there's anything trapped, and if not, send an e-mail to me (jt-at-armourarchive.org). In that e-mail, include your registration name. Please make the subject line reasonable, too. I get about 500 spam messages per day, and so subject lines similar to "Problem" may get lost on my end.

If you can't log in, you can't read this message, . It took me a few goes to realize that I was typing it right and needed to re-register. I could see the big red announcment, so it wasn't too hard to figure out what to do.

No worries!

Huh? You should be able to see the Armour Design and Construction forum as a guest.

You can't see the register user forums, and you can't reply to the posts, but you should be able to see them, still.

I couldn't log in under my old password and username so I had to create a new account.

I even tried the email address I had at that time frame and it wouldn't work.

Sorry this happened to you!

How long ago did you first register, and get approved? If it's after 30-April, your registration is non-existent, and you'd need (as you did) to create a new account.

On the other hand, if your account was present and active before 30-April, it should still be there. E-mail me with what the username was, and I can find out what the status is.

I changed my email and you had to reset it for me. That was after April. I tried with the old email/password and it wouldn't accept it.

My old username was liviatasia.

It's okay. I don't mind a new account.

I had some unrelated issues and had to delete
my cookie that "remembers" my log in

Now I have to log in each time and the 'remember me'
choice doesn't do anything......

Minor annoyance..... but is it something I am doing wrong?

If you are using FIrefox, that comes and goes with their updates.. I've had it happen on and off.

At one point, FIrefox wouldn't log in at _ALL_ it would continually bounce you back to the login page, even with correct Uname/Pwd, and I had to resort to using Internet Exploder for a week, till they fixed whatever it was.

Generally speaking, it's cookie related. Sometimes (and I have no idea why) you need to clear your cookies (or as Firefox calls it, private data) a couple times. Usually it'll clear up in one or at worst two clears.
