Benefits of Fighting in Armour
Benefits of Fighting in Armour
Hi,
On Sunday, my wonderful wife, Maureen, weighed herself. She was 205.0 lbs. Maureen hasn’t dropped below 200 lbs in over three years, but still tries.
Also on Sunday, my beautiful better half got into armour and fought for the first time in two years. Cunian (here on the Archive) sparred with her a lot and gave her some tips. Maureen (Midori) had a great time and fought a lot. She crashed into shields and did two-handed katanna work, followed by slow work. And she laughed, a lot. She hydrated constantly.
Last night we both got into armour, with Midori armouring up first while I attempted to keep my kids from terrorizing the Arts and Sciences people while I armoured up. Midori fought until she was blissful, then I armoured up and fought while she did slow work with her helmet off, watching the kids as they joined the dance group with the A&S people (THANK YOU DANCERS!!). And again, Midori laughed while fighting, even while nursing injuries that would have previously put her on the sidelines. They were born with pride and thankfulness to her opponents for pointing out where there might be issues.
She also hydrated constantly.
Midori (Maureen) took some good shots on the gauntlets, and is a little stiff in her hand, but she had fun. She was going to let me go to the Tuesday fighter practice on my own and work on recovery.
Maureen weighed herself this morning. She was 199.5 lbs. She called me with joy that can be barely described.
Midori will be joining me tonight at the Tuesday fighter practice for “spear duelsâ€

Must be nice
Kate likes armour
Kate likes conflict
she's very strong for a woman her size
and she is one mean girl when she decides to be
but she self admitedly has 0 tolerance for pain.
so no fighter girl for me
sokay thought
she still has this

front and back both outta one piece and it used to be pretty much dead on .
She did have a whole rig, but we've sold bits off.
Since the boy was born though it pinces a little.
But we have a steel mold of Kate at about 25

Updated...and my old signature line is here too!
I just fought for two days (lightly) and I went from 195 lbs to 191 lbs.
Maureen is still at 199 lbs. She fought spear last night a bit, but had arm issues and didn't fight spear a lot. She did have fun and Todd taught her a lot.

"Birthing a child must have been fun... "
She says she doesn't really remember it, she was pretty much knocked out. But later when all the stuff wore off she felt like she'd been hit by a car.
They had to do a c section early, the boy was too tall and she's not even 5 feet. He ran out of room and the inducement wasn't working right, so they just niped and got him.
I got to see the whole thing. Most guys haven't seen their wife's ribs or other internal organs. Lucky me
Dr pulled him up and handed him to me with his lil feet still inside.
Straight to daddy and a blanket. Held him while they cut the cord.
Held his hand while they cleaned him off. Wrpped him back up.
Took him to meet mommy while they stitched her up. He didn't cry mutch, i think he was tiered.
Then took him to the window of the nursery for the relatives to see.
good day
now he's 4
He's at school today alllll day
What were we talking about?

Must have been really cool... Don't know if I could have handled seeing the insides off my wife......
Didn't get to go that route, wasn't in somebodies plans... but got the joy of adoption.......
Oh yeah, Aaron way to go with the wife... wish mine was interested in the SCA....
