Strawberry Fields Armory?

Post by Sinister_Theo »

Has anyone ordered from them?

We saw a few pieces that we were interested in and wanted to know who else has worked with them? Nice folks.

I've not ordered from them.

However... I have done some work for them.

Malgy is a decent dude.

Last I'd heard he was doing more mundanely oriented things, so there MAY be a wait, but I am WELL out of the loop.
It looked better in my head....
Damnit.

Saritor on here has ordered from them.

I have stuff on order from them.

I'll second Mattmaus -- Duke Maelgwyn is a good guy.

He had quite a bit of in stock stuff with him at Estrella, so there's a good chance he may already have it ready what ever "it" is. Maelgwn's a great guy overall and will do what he says he'll do.

Have an order in with him..

Post by Breanna of Burtonswoode »

I ordered a Churburg Breastplate in T6, Arms, and Legs from him at Estrella War. He was very nice and his prices were unbelievable.. He so far asked only $700.00 total for all three..

I cannot wait to get my stuff and get on the field with it all! :D

My Knight was nice enough to introduce me to him and his lady. They were both extremely nice.

Reposting from the other Strawberry Fields thread:

I'm about to have Maelgwyn make an Elizabethan gorget and a few other nifty items for me here in the near future.

He made a Spanish morion for fencing, which my girlfriend has claimed as soon as we finish strapping it. Maelgwyn's generally willing to do just about anything you want him to try his hand at.

Added:

On the morion, I paid him half up front (materials, etc) and he told me it'd take, IIRC, two months. He had pictures to me of what things were looking like and questions about how I was planning to wear it in about a month. Everything ended up being finished a bit ahead of schedule, and he's fairly responsive by email (I believe he usually checks in the morning, but 24-48 hour turnaround for an armourer is pretty darned good).

Duke Maelgwyn is an awesome armourer, and a great guy as well. He has been in the SCA for a long time and I have yet to here about an unhappy customer. He is also one of those smaller local armourers that we love to support, give our love, and money to. Highly recommended!!
