Zinc plated flat riveted mail

Post by Charles Alexander »

Can anyone attest to the quality of this? King's Lance chainmail in general?

I haven't seen many examples of flat riveted mail in zinc, just blackened steel. I like black, just not the oil that is necessary to keep it rust protected. :)

Well , i,ve never bought finished items from him but, the bulk links are priced right. There will be however, a few bad rings mixed in as well. Ant.

I would avoid galvanized since it turns an off white after it has had a lot of contact with water (like in the rain or your sweat). Stainless steel is the way to go if you don't want oily maille. Von Sussen and Eis Falke both carry stainless AFAIK.

His flat links can be turned a gun-metal grey with 15 or 20 min. soaking in lemon juice. This method still leaves on some zinc but, looks better & won,t rust. The riveted flat ring patch I posted in discussion was done that way. Whole sale armor does have stainless links but , only in roud wire at the moment and , they are a bit cheaper to buy than elsewhere. Ant.

Thanks gentlemen.

Where can I find Eis Falke? On eBay like Sussen?
