pic below of SCA scabards, belt, and fittings. all from Aaron. check out the awsome filework on the strap ends, matched on the chapes! All through the process Aaron was terrific to work with; he kept me informed all along with pictures, details, helpfull suggestions, and the like. I pretty much just gave him directions to "make me a 1390 set of scabbards in natural earth tones" and let him run with it. periodicaly he asked for directgion, like steel or brass, lockets or not, and this is what came in the mail a few days ago. count me as one really damn happy customer, and would gladly do business with him again.

Congrats on your scabbards! If you like these, you should see some of his historical work - very, very nice.

yup, I've seen his historical work. which is why the directions he got on this stuff was merely a date in history and a free rein.

Aaron was fantastic to work with keeping me up to speed on progress and delivering exactly what he promised and when. the entire transaction fantastic and the scabbard a work of art.

Seriously, he has been an immense help with sharing information and ideas and just an all around good guy to work with. Having some of these projects in various stages over the last couple of weeks, I am amazed at how skillfully he puts the components together to make a finished product anyone would be proud of!

Jonathon, Ingolf - glad you guys are pleased. I really appreciate the opportunity to make stuff for people. Actually, I am disappointed that they took as long to get out to you two as they did - working with leather in this manner is different than anything I had done before, so there was a lot of trial and error until things worked. Tor, JohnParr, yours are on my bench now...

Here's a closer pic of the fittings for Jonathon's scabbard...

They are based off of actual finds from the period he requested, according to the Museum of London book Dress Accessories.

For what it's worth, all of these side projects are funding my own 15th C kit, so these funds stay in a cycle to other artisans.

For not leting me know who he was at Racine,WI (at the WMAW). :wink:

We had chatted via PM's and posts yet I hadn't picked up on who he was when we met at Racine. He didn't let me know until I was back in Alaska.

Yeah... I missed out on a really good opportunity. Honestly, I didn't make a solid connection until late in the event, and then didn't have the opportunity.

There will be a next time, and yeah, I'd love to catch up.

Truthfully, there are a lot of folks I want to meet up with that I've known from the forums and LH/HWMA (and now SCA) communities. Too scattered, and time is too limited.
