Pennsic

Post by Sixtus_Goetz »

Alas,

This is not the year for Wars for me. While I will not be attending the Great War of Pennsic, I will instead focus my efforts to home Kingdom events. Missing Pennsic deeply sorrows me, I will miss you all!

Cheers

after being a die-hard attendee for years, I've found it's better to skip a few every once in a while. It really makes me notice what I love about it, rather than dwell on the (growing) list of stuff that annoys me about it, if it's a special occasion, rather than something I "have" to do annually.

The widow and I took a pennsic off on year, granted it was only after my second one, but we went to australia for 2 weeks, One week off fighting , and one weekm of touristy stuff. then skipped the next pennsicdue to baby on the way (real close at pennsic time) then caughte last year. it was great. didn't get to fight every day due to child watching schedule but had a good time regardless. I wonder what the gas prices are gonna do to attendance this year?

We'll see a small drop in 'casual' attendance - the hard core of War-goers budget for this sort of thing. "Gas prices going up? Hmmm, another $10 per payckeck into the Pennsic Savings Fund should cover it..."

The couple of habitual day-trippers I know (back and forth from Cleveland 2-3 times per war) are already starting to whine.

I'll be missing the war again this year. Two years running. :( Both are for very good reasons, but I still miss the war.....I will be getting there next year if I can at all manage it. :D

We are building a new house that may deliver in August though September is more likely; however we are not making Pennsic as we ready things and save for the new home. I will have 2.5 times the house I did before and need to furnish it.

We missed last year and I am damn sure going to make it for at least some of war week!!! It may not sound like a vacation to some, but it does clear the baffles for me. :P
