Sunday practice is nearby. Generally it is a good practice though a lot of people may be just getting back from an event at that point. Nice long afternoon, generally with a restaurant outing afterwards.
Monday practice is likely to be the biggest with the bestest during that timeframe.
There's a Tuesday practice too, and then a Thursday practice on the evening of the 1st if you don't have to be back on a plane already at that point.

I would recommend the Embassey Suites right near there if you are travling on the governement. You are talking about old town right? Both are right next to the metro The Hilton on Semenary road is not close to easy public transportation.
I would be happy to help with a hotel.

I moved too soon
I was just a few miles from there just 2 weeks ago and would have picked you up myself. If you end up in old town you have to go to 5 guys burgers: http://www.google.com/maps?q=107+N.+Fay ... a+VA+22314
And if you like sushi you have to make a trip here if it is not too far. They were Zegot (restaurant ratings) rated #1 in sushi and #14 best DC restaurant 2 years ago: http://www.yamazato.net/

I had already been told about 5 guys burgers... something about the beer I think it 'twere.
Sorry but just do do the sushi thing. Tried it a few times and just didn't float my boat. I like MEAT! Not all that rice.

No beer at the Five Guys but your coming from Germany, forget about the beer.
But seriously if you want beer go to The Brickskeller for a selection of over 1000 bottled beers or RFD for the 300 bottles and some 32 taps. Both at this addy.
