Actually it opens to the public at 11 AM both days. I'll be there will all my Bronze Age gear, and Legio XX will be 2 camps away (since they're so modern, hee hee!). For directions, see Marietta's website:

Hope to see everyone there!

I'll be there with La Belle Compagnie. Henry will be with me, so look for me wearing a rose colored dress, and a two and half year old little blond boy - probably stripped to his shirt and barefoot, if the forecast holds for around 80!

The Longship Company will be there; I dropped the faering boat, Gyrfalcon by today. I won't be there except to pick it up Sunday afternoon; a family celebration this weekend, and I have to save-up "honey-do" credit for the Celtic Festival of Southern Maryland next weekend.

I hope everybody has a good time! Wish I were there! :?

Up to the 16th century there will be:

Bronze Age
Legio XX
Longship Company
(maybe that awful "Scottish" steel fighting group)
Hospitallers
La Belle
Lord Grey's Retinue
Squires Camp
The Devils Nightmare Regiment

I suspect Edric the Potter might merchant too but it is hard to say.

It would have to be this weekend. :(

If I can get into the shop this weekend I need to do some work but if not I'll try to come down and act like a tourist. I'd love to see La Belle Company in action.

OK, but what DOES "MTT" stand for?

Guess: Military Through Time?

In our area we have had Military Through the Ages. There's a lot of mutual kidding about the virtues and vices of gear from the different periods.

Sorry, I didn't bother because I thought there was already a thread dedicated to it.

Military Through the Ages still goes on annually at Jamestown.

I love the multi-period events. The public can see and ask about similarities and differences through the ages. I get to learn more about different time periods in a venue that's all about instruction and people asking questions, and by this point have made friends in other camps who I only see at these events. And I get to flirt with the German WWII guys and let them try to ply me with homebrew 8)

Oh, James B.: I heard "that steel-fighting group" was invited by mistake and was uninvited.

I hope so, they have been there two years in a row and last year they came into camp and creeped me out. Half were doing we are not worthy and the other half were criticizing and the whole thing set off my crazy radar.

Right, "Swords of Chivalry" is definitely NOT there. Shoot, I wish I'd been brave enough to pay more attention to them, since I clearly missed a lot of good stories! Were they REALLY criticizing stuff in your camp??? Too funny... I'd'a killed them, myself.

We had a good day there, today! Six or 8 camps were setting up, and groups of school kids came through from 10 to about 1 or so. Had some good conversations.

Gotta sleep, now.

Spent almost twenty years trying to bring Highland living history interpretations to a new and higher level. We did pretty good too.
