If the Telmarians started out with the 16th c. Spanish armor of our world, their technology has been evolving independently in Narnia for generations. It should look significantly different from the historical prototypes.

Slight spoiler - perpetual motion doesn't work!

actually, there was one shot where you could see a group of solidiers cranking away at some gears that turned a chain/belt thing and in turn powered the catapult.

I thought the armour was pretty good.

But to me in the closeups, the Brigs looked like injection molded rubber suits, formed to look like brigandines. Don't get me wrong. For movie armour it looked pretty good, but after I noticed it, it bugged me the whole movie.
