Pell on a Pole

Post by Magnus Ulfgarsson »

So I've been crying about not having a pell for ages now, I'm in an apartment with no space for anything like it.

Recently I was fighting in the park across the street, which I've done before, and noticed a thick pole concreted into the ground, it's about 6'5" tall or so, and metal.

I'm thinking of making a pad to go on it, I think just wrapping it in some closed cell foam should do the trick and be inexpensive, just curious if anyone has some thoughts.

Leather and foam, fun!

If it's just a pole, try getting a piece of PVC pipe that fits over it, getting several rolls of camping foam, and a couple of rolls of duck tape. Make yourself a sleeve that goes over the pipe.

With the pipe and an end cap, the sleeve would not have to be full height, which would ease transport.

That is a cool idea. The only drawback I can see is the abuse the PVC can withstand. I think I could probably completely destroy PVC in about 5 or 6 shots, padding or no.

I would be very leery of using it..

Once you get it wrapped up swing stick for a sec or two...

If you notice a deep deep ache in your shoulders, you should find a different pell...

Guy I knew in West Texas screwed his shoulder up hitting a metal pell..

Something about the vibrations or some such...

When I was in Okinawa, I took 2 camp pads and taped them to a telephone pole. Use a broomed sword (lots of tape), it wont screw up your elbow.

Well, I'm not going to be doing it with any speed or power at all, really slow deliberate swings.

Greetings,
I work in the utilities industry, which uses pvc pipe and other types of pipe. My suggestion is to find a local construction site that is just beginning to lay the infrastructure pipe, i.e water line or sewer lines. ask someone there for scrap SDR 26 or SDR 35 pipe for sewer of C900 for water lines, they often have pieces from 1 to 6 feet. If you can find 4 inch or 6 inch piece wrap it with padding and you will not be able to damage it no matter how long , or how hard you hit it, except in the winter.

If you keep your broomed swords after you pulp them, they make *GREAT* pell swords, and help prevent self-injury.
