My Roman kit progress pics.

Post by marcus decrius savius »

So, I finally have my Lorica Segmentata finished, I can now field my roman persona!, well ...almost! the lorica is 16gauge mild, made by me, I did have the buckles made for me and bought the brass bosses at Lowe's. but the lacing loops and hinges I made along with the rest of cutting and sizing and bending the plates riveting...etc. the baletus or cingulum (belt) is not finished but getting close, also here is a pic of my newly finished helm, it has to be shipped still and i will put a couple bosses on it and some brass work too. My gorget is hidden under the focale scarf. it is a brig. gorget.

I will have hidden knees under the tunic and am thinking about bauzbands.
just need to make myself a scutum which is my next project.

oh! this is for SCA use, and i will also have clamshell gaunts for it because its sca.
what do you guys think? opinions, tips, comments, criticism. :)
thanks!
Marcus

That under shirt should be natural, not dyed in any fashion....Otherwise, sweet lorica.

While I personnally agree with you, there is enough debate about this (tunic color) that anyone should be able to wear red without being seen as seriously wrong. The stereotype for red is so strong that members of the public expect it.

If you care, here is a run-up on the topic.
