Chainmail Update

Post by Duke Icefalcon »

The current shipment of maille is in JFK awaiting customs clearance. I should have it in my hands by next week and will ship out all of the orders I can fill from it right away.

If someone would like to place an order for 6mm or mild steel items, now is the time. I will let you know if I have/will have it in stock by next week and will ship right away.

As of this morning, the chain is still in customs. I have been told that it is likely to clear today and be delivered to me tomorrow. If that is the case, I will start sending tomorrow and Wednesday.

I will keep you all posted.

Just got the call that the shipment has been cleared through customs. I will give an ETA on shipping as soon as I get one.

I'll have my armpits protected soon...so as soon as my wife can fight regularly, I can fight without people looking at my armpit hair.

Question: do your voiders cover the entire arm or just the inside around the arm pit? Also if they cover the whole arm what length are they? Full sleeve or half sleeve?

I'm looking for voiders that cover the arms all around...

u will need to buy a long sleeve hauberk for that. i know of NO ONE that sells what you are looking for. traditional voiders cover the inside of the arms and the arm pit area. where the plate would not cover due to inner articulation. JeffJ has complete shoulder area plus voiders on his set, but i believe he made them from an exsisting shirt and cut it down.

A 15th century text (perhaps the first Johannes Hill text onm 'How a Man schall be armed" - there were two different ones written), recommends voiders extend no father than two finger width under the edge of the plate.

Typical voider pattern is under the arm, halfway down the body and halfway down the arm.

This is what we have.

Aaron,

This shipment is mostly mild and 6mm. Your voiders will be coming with the stainless items getting sent at the end of the month.

Sorry for the wait, my friend.

That is incorrect. Your haubergeon is in, good sir... :) So is Sir Finn's.

I did get an odd lot of stainless goods but the bulk of the stainless gear is coming in at the end of the month.

If you give me a call tonight, I will ship it to you tomorrow.

Cheers!

Great to hear. Now just hoping Post Office is speedy, and I get it by Friday, for our Rose Tourney on Saturday. If not, at least will have it for the next weekend. :p

Thanks your Grace, looking forward to the shirt.

I'd like to take a look at the 6mm riveted. Will there be anyone selling at the Storvic unbelt tourney in July?

Sixtus,

Yes, your gear is in the mail. Sorry for the confusion. I do not know all of the SCA names with the modern names and we had a ton of orders.

Not likely but we can bring some to East Kingdom War Camp in July. We often get a lot of Atlantians at that event as it is not too far a trip for some.

I will also bring much of this to Pennsic.

Stainless Chain

Post by Proxus »

Your Grace,

I noticed today the pending charge on my card for the balance of the stainless chain I had ordered. Is that an indication that order was among the odd assortment of stainless items received? If so once it ships would you be kind enough to either PM or email me with tracking information?

Thank you very much and have a wonderful day!

:!: :!: :!: (awaiting with breathless anticipation)  :!: :!: :!:

YAY GOT IT

Post by Proxus »

:D  :D :D  :D :D

YAY,,,, Christmas in June.

The chain arrived. I felt sorry for the poor little Vietnamese postal lady that was lugging the box into my corporate office. I took it off her hands as soon as I saw her. Thank you sir for the constant and professional replies and communication while awaiting customs and shipping on your end. As soon as I get a chance to wear it in practice I will be posting a review. (Tomorrow night!! yay).

Your Grace,

What size rivets are used in the chainmail? The reason I ask is I have a rivet missing from one of my links and I need to replace it.

Thanks,

Ooooo...voiders! Did my stainless voiders come in?

Mild wouldn't do it. I sweat BUCKETS (as you know) and that's not good for mild.

How did I miss that?
