I am new to SCA, I've only fought 1 time and in loaner gear. I have just finished my first helm and it is completely up to standards. (fits great, light weight compared to the loaner, 14g. 304 stainless)
its a coppergate style. now I put back slats on it to extend it further down my neck. I want to cover it to look better, I built it to handle 16g. 1/4 stainless maille drape. I was weaving today and found my old chunk of stainless large TRL scales. they aren't spring tempered or anything, but they are tied together with split rings. would these work for a covering? they look really good, but I don't want to have to repair them after every practice...
thanks!
~Casey

Sounds like they should hold up decently well...Riveted maille would look better tho...

5/16th stainless split rings.
I haven't fought too much, but I don't know how much I'll be getting hit in the back of my head about 1/2 inch below the ears. I may be wrong on that too...
