FS/FT great helm Price drop $30 + ship

Post by Cat »

EDIT: I dropped the price to $30 plus shipping or suitable trade. Willing to negotiate as I would just like to move this out of my closet.

I got this helm in trade about 4 years ago, and it has been sitting in my closet ever since. Since I don't have a use for it, I have decided to sell it.

The steel is ~1mm thick, and I'm not sure what gauge that translates to. I'm guessing 16 gauge. The rivets are brass, and looks like 1/4" shanks (could be 3/16", but they look bigger than that to me).

Internal measurements at the brow are about 8 7/8" front to back, 7" side to side, and about 11" deep at the center. (as best as I could tell)

The pieces in the back are put together a bit crooked. (see pic)

Asking $30 plus shipping if you want to outright buy it. If you want to trade, I am looking for the following (or let me know what you have):

1/4" wide woven or braided (like 8 strand braid, one color) wool trim - "oatmeal" or other "natural" color preferred. However many yards you feel is worth it for the trade.

Useable piece of Elk leather - no glossy finish, no veg tan elk (want supple leather), no holes or extremely thin/weak spots

Useable Goat leather - no glossy finish, no veg tan (want supple)

Useable piece of deertan cowhide

If you want to trade, we will figure out the value of the items plus shipping and figure out how to make up the difference.

Thanks for looking - more pics in a sec,
Cat

Hi Cat, nice helm. The gauge would be around 18 or 19ga steel.

Ya know, I'm wondering if I'm wrong about the thickness measurement. I couldn't find my gauge checker thingie, so I used a ruler. This helm seems too heavy and sturdy to me to be that thin of a gauge. It weighs a bit over 6 pounds - do you think that would be consistent with 18/19 gauge? It really does look like it's 1mm though, but it's hard to be sure using a ruler.

I will have to find my gauge checker thingie and double check.

Thanks,
Cat
