Gentles,
A bunch of my buddies are coming to Pennsic next year, and I would like to hold a "how to make a flat shield at pennsic" class for them. They are coming in by plane, and can't bring their sheilds.
So, I have offered to hold a building session/class in my camp next year. I just offered about thirty seconds ago, so I am NOT sure that they would want to actually hold the class. I do know that a lot of people will need shields.
But, if we do, we will be needing between one and ten shield bosses during the first week of war next year, depending on how many need the class. The class would be pre-reserve only, and pre-pay only.
So, I might be showing up with a half dozen guaranteed sales next year. Maybe. It would be best if we could line up inexpensive sheild bosses and baskets at war.

We could help you out with that.
A couple months before Pennsic, when you have your numbers set, get ahold of me and we'll make sure everything you need is there for y'all when you arrive.

We had Duke Sir Paul Bellatrix visit our encampment this year, and I was very impressed with his shield. It was a round shield, hinged in the middle so that it would fold in two to fit in a suitcase. I tried it and it was as solid as if it were one piece. You might ask him how he made his. He is here on the archive.

Johannes,
Thanks, I have passed on the fact that you might possibly be interested in selling a bunch of bosses and shield baskets at Pennsic '08. I even said that with a guaranteed sale, we might be able to ask for a slight discount, though you hadn't said that.
I am waiting to hear back.
Tally,
I have seen pictures of Duke Paul's shield, and it is plenty cool, but I can't help folks make them. I CAN, however, since I have the tools and the local folks on the ground, help them to make standard flat shields.
Getting enough paint and enough disposable paintbrushes, that will be a problem.

That is so silly! His was wooden, and once opened and latched was very solid. There are rules for cut down spears being assembled with dowels and used on the field. Why not shields?
