Japanese samurai armour

Post by rutsuko »

I am wondering if there is anyone in or around the Calgary area who knows how to make authentic (or authentic-looking) Japanese samurai armour.

Thanks everybody.

If you find anyone lemme know.

Mykaru, who is currently in Japan, does make Kabuto (I have one, with a 2nd on the way). But I don't know if he does anything else in japanese armour. It's not an easy thing to find.

One of the guys here makes (made) an GREAT okegawa dou.

Someone else from Calgary! I know a whole host of people who are into everything from dark age to jousting. Unfortunately I dont know many people who are interested in the asian side of things, though I do know one.

I'm not sure which if any group you are associated with in town, but I can introduce you to a veriety of groups (SCA, Dragons Own, MASC, Valentines groups, jousting groups, Legio XXI Rapax, etc. etc.) if you are interested or looking. Heck, I might even know you!

The only other advice I would give would have been the sites listed above. They are outstanding sources of information.

No, not really.

The â„¢-yoroi is a specific type of armour. It's like saying "the proper name for four-wheeled gasoline-powered vehicles is 'mini-van.'"
