A wierd idea for a pair of quices(sp?)

Post by Thorsteinn Raudskeggr »

I had a thought,

What if I took some heavy leather, then on top of that put some of the 3 layered lamellar that Polar Bbear Fforge sells, mebe a bit of padding underneath and made some thigh protection with it, havng laced the lamellar through the leather. Whatcha think?

I'm just playing around with it in my head for now, and I'd like some input.

Just lace Lamallar Quisses. No need to back them with leather.

OR lace up some long lamallar tassets on a belt. Lots of lamallar wearers do that.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

Seems excessive. Do as Insane suggests.

That's a mighty lot of rhinoceros hide to schlep around Cynagua for the hotter half of the year. I'd agree it doesn't need heavy leather in there plus the padding; remember you want to be able to call blows justly. Either scales and rather lighter leather, or scales and fabric padding. A stiff enough cuisse doesn't need very much at all in padding, and only in strategic spots at that; the thigh being fleshy it can take a walloping and rebound. A hard cuisse distributes the hit over a considerable area and that takes the sting right out.

(Cuisse, quisshews, garde-de-cuisses -- many variants, each more exotically spelt than the last if you line them up that way...)
