Period liner for a Burgeonet

Greetings forum,

I recently bought a burgeonet helm here and I want to put a period liner in it. I have the linen, padding, leather and rivets. My bigest question is where were the leather strips riveted for the liner to be sewn in? Was the chin portion padde as well? Any pictures and references would be most appreciated. Thanks.

By that era practically any helmet's head padding or suspension had a brow band at hat-sweatband height. Often, a row of rivets would be visible around the helmet, holding the sweatband on. The rest of it would be attached to there and secured, say by an adjustable loop of cord tied closed, at the top of the head.

The answer depends on what you are going to do and how high end your burgonet is. For a munition one, this is the way to go:

This is a period lining in a 16th c. burgonet (a real one, not a modern copy). It is attached to 2 strips - one runs across the brow just above the brim and the other is just above the neck flair.

For munition pieces they seem to have left the cheeks unlined. For high end ones, there does seem to have been a lining. It was attached to leather strips which were riveted along the edge at the face and just above the neck flair.
