Wax Hardening Leather ???

Would it be safe to use an old crock pot to heat parrafin or bees wax in? Or will a crock pot even get hot enough? Also if anybody has alot of 8-10 oz. veg-tan scrap in pieces big enough to get 2"x3" scales out of let me know, I have some misc. armour pieces to trade, or maybe buy it outright.

I have a crock pot that I use. While it takes a while to melt a large amount of parafin.... it does keep at a good temperature (about 180 degrees).
