1. unless someone ruined it by put artificial waterproofing on it already, it should NOT need waterproofing.
2. set up the tent, use a long handled scrub brush and a 10:1 solution of water and bleach. Scrub down the tent with it (the whole thing) and let dry in the sun.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

Personally I don't like cleaning a standing tent. The brush-work is hard on the arms and the ridge might not be reachable. Consider nailing 4 2x4's together, lay down a blue tarp and use as a wide shallow 'bath-tub' for scrubbing.
Also, remember to throughly clean any storage and transport bags. No need to reintroduce the mold after the cleaning.
Store the tent bone dry in a temperature controlled environment if possible. Bottom of a linen closet is good. I unfold mine into 6' x 2' sections and slide under the bed in the guest bedroom. It's well ventilated and no more inclined to grow mold there then the sheets, blankets and curtains.
Good luck. I lost a Panther to mold one year from not taking it out of a plastic storage bin. I will NEVER make that mistake twice.

I keep mine in a plastic storage bin in the garage, however, I store it with the tops off so air can circulate.
