This sounds like an absolute blast to me. How does this effect other events like the Unbelt Champions Battle, Heroic Champions Battle, and the Heroic Champions Tourney?

It would be cool to see a combined Middle and East Kingdom Unbelts team vs. the rest of the Known World's Unbelt team. I would guess that it would be a logistic nightmare in terms of getting organized, selecting memebers, and getting any real practice in, but still would be very cool to see.

Either way, this historic decision is most definitely a step in the right direction in my own humble opinion.

Greetings Drogo,

The details of this years war are still being carefully discussed and evaluated by HRH Andreas and Myself. Much of what our Kingdoms have come to expect will be included, and there will be interesting new surprises as well.

As we come to agreements, I am sure we will be posting them for all to see and enjoy.

Best Regards, and Thank you for your words!

You know, Your Highness, After last year when I pulled Calontir off and created the third army, the Middle and East did have that Brokeback Mountain moment...you know, the hug after the battle when they joined sides to crush the rebellious third army...Be careful with that male bonding stuff.

I for one am most happy to see this decision by Your respective Kingdoms.

Thank you :D

I am very proud that this is comming to fruition. You Highness Eisfalke worked very hard last year to let you intentions be known. It is great that you and his highness EikBrandr are comming together on this. This year should be really great!

Well, when I called His Highness Eikbrandr up and made the suggestion, he told me he was already thinking the same thing; so it was an easy sell.

It is really great to have someone who is like minded in this great endevor.

We would expect that.... :)

By the way, the Eastern/Middle tape color will be purple, for those who need to plan ahead.

Maureen and I plan on being there. There is a very, very high chance this will be her first, my second and our last Pennsic. I plan to enjoy it.

My wife and I already have enough saved up for the pre-reg. Her parents became unwitting babysitters for our little one for two weeks this summer. Yes, our first Pennsic is going to be awesome!

Coolest. Pennsic. Ever.

I'm so excited I have to sit on my hands to keep from clapping! :) This is going to *rock* - I can't wait!!! I get to stand beside my friends in the East at Pennsic for the very first time. It feels like a gift.

This is exactly what Pennsic has needed for many years now. Just fantastic.

So what color tape will the everyone else be wearing? I am cogitating on raising a dark army of sellswords. We could wear black tape.

Hmm ... yellow often seemed to be the colour of some allies ... I'd suppose the kingdoms could bear yellow and the mercs black ... easy enough to spot the difference and the black ones both sides could be wary of!

I would bet that for the 1st part -- the "Pennsic War", it will be like very other Pennsic: East & Allies in blue, Mid & Allies in red.

For the 2nd part -- the "_________ War", I'd guess the East and Mid in blue/red, and everyone else in another color, like yellow.

Too many colors will be too confusing.

If I read this right, all Mercs will be on the non-East/Mid side.

Why not have a "Pennsic Crusade War"? You know... the Middle Eastern army against all the other infidels?

With the numbers being what they are, I think it is a fair assumption that just about everyone else other than East and the Middle would have to fight on the same side to keep things competative. If we go by last year's numbers (I am hoping for more this year), we should be fielding about 1100-1200 fighters in total. The East and Middle should field around 550 of this. That should leave the rest of the field with 550-650. Even if the East/Middle is outnumbered by 100 or so, it should still be competative.

A 3 side war would be interesting but it just would not work well in this case.

Happy New Year everyone!

I think the Third Army should be headed by Aethelmearc. Goodness knows they've been awfully understanding about all these foreign armies trampling all over their turf for nearly forty years.
