Helm Received from Eric Thing in Time for Hastings!

Post by Guest »

Oh bliss! Eric pulled off a wonder and delivered a hand raised, custom nasal helm in time for Hastings! My wif says I now look like "Mr. Torpedo Head". It's so nice I'll probably have to promote myself to King Harold, since a common thegn like me wouldn't wear such a fine piece. Image

For a sample of Eric's work, check out "Raising a Norman Helm" at http://www.anvilfire.com/21centbs/armor/index.htm . Mine's 14 guage, which makes it considerably lighter.

Now I have to finish the re-hilting of my Viking swords with my hand-forged cross guard and hand cast brass pommel to uprate my weapons. You can get a cross guard to sit right down at a yellow heat. Image A lot of sanding, drilling filing and punching to go.

Hal:

You'll have to wait 'til I get some pics from Hastings. I showed it off to the ship's crew today, and was immediatly accused of "going Norman".
