A box I am in the process of making for Coronation.

Post by MJBlazek »

East Kingdom Coronation is April 11th.
I am in the process of making a nice little chest to be filled with things made by the people of our shire as a gift to Andreas and Gabriella.

Just thought I would share.
Made out of Tiger Maple with a Cherry insert bottom and a regular Maple piece on the top.

17 1/2 inches long, 4 or so inches deep.

I milled the wood myself to about 3/4 of its width with a machine then finished it with hand planes.
Linseed oil finish.

I'm not quite done with it. I have a couple of ideas for decorative elements.

This is the first time I have ever made anything like this. No plans were used I just made it up as I went along.

EDIT* I can't get the photos to post, here is a link to my flikr photo stream.

Neat!

To get images working, I like to use good old HTML. To do this with one of your pictures, do the following:

Navigate to the flickr page of the image you want.
Right click on the image
(firefox) select "copy image location"
(IE) select "properties" and copy the image URL from the new window that pops up
Put the image URL into an IMG tag as follows, removing any "?v=0" or such at the end:

Code: Select all

Beautiful.
A lot of work though,
just to store cans of root beer.

Thanks guys!

The root beer was added to the pic to give an idea of size.

But, it might actually make a nice little thing to hold 6 cans in! :)

This really only took me a couple of hours total, probably 5 hours of work off and on.
