I would love to see someone making a gladius. At the very least I would pay for the hardware needed and make the sword myself.

I can make whatever weapons you want; You supply your hardware, I have the rattan waiting.

You should get with Vitus for knightly weapons. His squire (I think it's Eadric) also does very nice swords. You can also get some really nice scabbards for your sidearms from Sir Vitus.

I've recently made a pompeii inspired gladius as a back-up weapon (a fish bat) for a friend. You can see here:

It was so simple, I'm working on another more ornate rattan gladius for a gift to a friend of the household. This one will have a bone handle and much brass bling, as well as an ornate scabbard and baldric.

Thanks, Tristan.
Here's a link to my personal sword scabbard project. There's a picture of my heavy crosshilt sword (2 lbs. 12 oz) in a couple of the photos. It is a tapered piece of 2.5" rattan with leather on the edges to extend the blade life. People that handle it seem to like the balance. Despite the heavy brass pommel, it's slightly tip heavy (balance point 2" in front of crosshilt).

You can also see my bollock dagger in the pics, prior to adding the thrusting tip and silver tape.

I've gotten some headway on the hardware for the new rattan gladius yesterday. I have extra material to do about 2 or possibly 3 more sets. If anyone is interested in the pommel/guard combo or a finished sca rattan sword or a pugio, you can shoot me a pm.
