Post by Ken Mondschein »

NB: If you're going to sign up, I suggest you do it soon, since it's filling up.

INTRODUCTION TO RAPIER FENCING

The Higgins Armory is proud to announce the first of a new program of courses geared toward the living practice of historical martial arts. Introduction to Rapier Fencing will teach students the principles and application of the rapier in a safe, progressive, ordered, easy-to-understand manner while increasing their level of fitness, learning correct biomechanics, and having fun. Subject matter will progress from stance and footwork to individual and partner drills, use of the dagger with rapier, how to apply universal principles to specific tactical situations, and free fencing. No prerequisites. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and be ready for a workout (long pants only, please). Bring protective equipment and a (buttoned) rapier if you have it. Men will need to bring and wear a cup.

Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-8 PM beginning June 2 and ending June 25

Fee: $180; $150 for Museum Members

For inquiries and reservations contact Rhonda Houle at the Higgins Education Department via email at rhoule@higgins.org or by telephone at 508-853-6015 x20.
