who makes a good glove for finger gaunts??
Just wondering what is a good manufacturer or crafts person who makes HIGH quality gloves that will hold a rivet for finger gauntlets. Thanks much.

I like these gloves right here for finger gauntlets. Hardly any stretch when wet and dry soft. Tougher than nails too.

I prefer to use Harley Davidson long cuff gloves.
Try using a leather "washer" under the head of the rivets. This may help prevent pull through. Also use the widest headed rivet you can.
Good luck and be sure to post some pics of the gauntlets.

On a side note - I have heard that using roofing nails for rivetting the gloves to the fingers is a good sturdy way to do it. I have not done it myself (yet) though. It would not require trying to work with a rivet, a washer, the glove and the finger....

John,
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. I've had very good luck with the Wells-Lamont "Gripper" gloves. You have to add a cuff onto them, but the fingers are pre-curved and they are available in both cow and occasionally elk hide. I've been able to find them at Menards and I think Farm Fleet.
Also in regards to riveting through the gloves, I use a drywall type nail, it has a larger head (but not as big as a roofing nail). They'll need to be annealed. Use an ice pick or an awl to punch the hole with, that keeps you from removing too much leather and it closes up around the shank of the nail.
If the rest of the gauntlet turns out as good as the one we saw at M.A.G, they'll be great. Good luck!
