Gaston's high speed camera for sale.

I saw a thread a while back someone was looking for something along these lines, should have listed it sooner but here ya go: I'm interested in selling my Casio EX-F1 Pro camera. This camera originally sold for about $1200 but when they discontinued it a few years ago the used price jumped to $2200....

Re: Why are Pavise's shaped like they are?

Having researched, used, and built a few pavises I have to say "All of the above" They were often staked with a single center stake along the keel and I can tell you from experimenting it works nicely in the keel. This allows it to be stable but when the bad guys get too close you grab the handle an...

Re: Top 5 - Dagger

Does a "dagger" have a specific size range? Is it thrust only? When is it not a dagger anymore but a short sword? If it's long enough to swing at someone and and actually be a good blow, it's not a dagger ;-) To my mind Aveloc pretty much "invented" the effective use of dagger in melee and brought ...

Re: Top 5 - Sword and Shield

i just think when looking at it sca-wide there are some names that should be there. the problem with lists like these is that if you put the top 20, based on educated opinions, in a list and they fought a single elim tourney over and over you would likely get a "top 5" that would change with each t...

All very good spears, but Ailgheanan in particular just makes me want to summon the archers. The Welsh god of war can be devastating with a spear. Inside Meridies HRM Ailgheanan Duke Maximilian Syr Aubec Duke Seth Earl Robert I've seen 4 of those guys stand side by side in the field battle at Gulf ...

Thanks for the nominations guys! When I was prince I created an award/position for the best spear fighter in the principality, there will be a tourney in October to see who holds it first. I won't compete this first year. I'm hoping it encourages more people to train in the art. -Viscount Achilles ...

Re: Top 5 - Spear

I gotta say the Southeast is spear-rich. Meridies, Trimaris, and GA all have more than their fair allotment of spear gods. Of the three I think the Meridian top spears have the best teamwork and make a much bigger difference on the field than most people realize.

Re: BotN Dream Team USA for 2013

I think it's true that just putting all-stars out as teams won't get the best results. The Poles seem to have done a hybrid this year: Whole teams fought for positions to represent the nation but some of the teams picked up the best members of other teams that seemed to be a good fit. That's a tough...

That's a tough one especially since I haven't been to any of the big wars in two years and been mostly inactive but I'm pretty sure if I could put a list together it would include Ailgheanan of Meridies.

You can tell who the best are because they have a dagger with a skull for a pommel. It's called "The Brotherhood of the Dagger of Dispair" and Aveloc was it's progenitor. The only way to get in is to fight your way in. Duke Baldar and myself are the only current Trimarian members, but I don't think ...

So Aquilonia (the new group that hosted Riddle of Steel) will be holding bi-monthly fighter prctices in the pit and their next event in June. Lupercalia, usually in February is still in limbo. Re: EMP pit fighting

I know they had plans already to put a huge Viking tent over the pit for non-Conan events. Seems the logical next step to add an AC. If the tent is semi-permanent then double wall not hard. My concern is having enough cooling power to overcome all the fighters and amped up spectators and the heat th...

Re: EMP pit fighting

It's true the pit favors the more "up close" fight which often goes to the stronfer fighter. Most EMP fighting is in the open like most SCA fighting so it's less an issue. The pit for Riddle of Steel is significantly smaller than the arena for Lupercalia and the fact that the walls are high makes sw...

I'm surprised there haven't been more comments. I guess with the battle of nations and other games of intensity around the novelty of fighting more extreme than SCA has waned.

There were several barechested gladiators, but I agree about Micheal. He won the overall title ("Conan"). There were a good number of slayers present for sure. Cherish is with Sir Vebrand now, you can see several fights between them, one in which she punches him to submission. Bytor has the distinct...

Re: EMP pit fighting

It's "three telling blows" with each blow having about the same force requirements on average as SCA fighting but since it's "armour as worn" strikes to plate which are not felt need not be called. Blows with hands, feet, elblows, and non-striking portions of weapons are allowed but they don't "coun...

Re: The Iron Chicken stance has got to go (SCA).

Balin, I guess you are OK so long as your block is inadvertant. Trying to block with the hand is still technically a no-no. 1)High guard was the dominant style of fighting in Trimaris from roughly 1982 until the mid 90s. It's not new and it doesn't really rely on your opponent's honor because here i...
