Re: Is riveted aluminum chainmail viable for SCA combat?

So my initial impressions so far is that it works fine if you're buying it only for show. I've only fought two practices with it so once I have more time in it I'll let you know of any major failings. The armor is not meant as a substitute for body armor and I view it as a more expensive tunic. Prio...

Well I cannot speak for the entire Society, but it is documented as being legal in the Middle Kingdom. Sir Gregoire, the current KEM, maintains a FAQ document in the Midrealm Marshal's Facebook group where it is documented.

As someone who wears Zoombang in the Middle kingdom, it is legal as an alternative for kidney/short rib protection. I have only seen people wear the maximum coverage shirts, but not other shirts.

Re: Middle May Crown list?

On shield sizes, the length for most fighters is not changing too drastically but the width sure is. The round center-grip fighters would have to fight with something like 22-23" rounds instead of their normal 28" rounds.

Re: Vito's Minions Roman HDPE Roman Lorica Segmentata

Vici doesn't even begin to describe how cool this household/unit really is. The armor is the household's property. For new guys that want to play, the Minions will armor them at the household's expense. Most of those guys aren't paying for any of the materials. While the armor is built like tanks, m...

Re: Centergrip round hand protection?

Does Caid not follow the Society minimums in regards to this? The new version of the rule requires only a gloved hand if you're 4" or more away from the shield's edge. 4. A shield with a shield basket or equivalent. A shield alone is NOT sufficient, since it covers the back of the hand, but not the ...

I wear a Zoombang max coverage shirt and shorts, with a linen tunic over it, and nothing more then other required armor. If you're accustom to having rigid protection then Zoombang protection is a real eye opener. Marshals still look at me like I'm crazy. I switched from plastic lamellar to Zoombang...

Sir Stephen from Aethelmarc wears one of these as his helm padding. I've asked him about this before and he says he likes it. It's nice to be able to wash your helm padding after every fight practice.

I got some spear thrusts to the gut in melee practice last night wearing only my Zoombang shirt for body. To put it plainly, it felt like I got punched in the gut.
