Re: stand question for a leg vise

Mine is on a heavy wooden stand that I can put weight in the bottom of. It's not the best but I have found it adequate for my needs and my vise is about 100 lb.

They're made by Armor Shop. Craig Nadler at http://www.nadlermetalcrafts.com/ carries them in stock in a variety of sizes stateside. It's rock solid and very protective. Well constructed.

Re: Tempered Steel Corrazina for sale $350 shipped

So right under the armpit there is plenty of wiggle room, I'm a little narrower up there. It's about 117 cm with no gapping. In the den er of the chest which is the center buckle there is also some extra room at 119 cm. Less room at the waist. Fits me just right at 110-111 cm. I uploaded a couple mo...

Tempered Steel Corrazina for sale $350 shipped

Selling my tempered 65G steel corrazina from Armor Shop. $350 shipped CONUS. The shell is black wool and cordura. Size is medium, 95 cm chest and 60 cm length. It fits me at 6' 195lb with a thick gambeson and would probably fit a slightly large red or smaller person as well as I have it buckled abou...

Have you gotten one from her and if so, can we see what it looks like on you? For my part, I've found measurements to be hit or miss- all depends on the clothier/arm...

Re: Tournament video - BOTN?

There's some differences in how you're allowed to use the rail but they're otherwise mostly the same. IMCF came from HMB. There are 1v1 matches that are like a UFC match then there are 1v1 duel matches with a more limited ruleset.

Re: Fabric cover on a shield - advice needed

It will hold so well that they are going to have a hell of a time removing it later. I glued fabric on a friend's aluminum shield to do a St. George painting and they had to soak it in hot water in the bathtub for hours when it was finally time to remove the fabric.

Re: Decent commercially available raising hammer?

Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of pictures, I didn't take any during the middle of the process. I cut out a simple knee cop to experiment with, and doubly not working quite right is lack of a good heat source. Right now I am kind of stalled out anyway on buying and making some new things...

Re: Decent commercially available raising hammer?

Yes. I have an angle grinder, a leg vise, and a buffer. The buffer I don't really know how to use properly yet. I've ground myself some stakes and dressed my existing hammer faces with though. I have some little polishing discs for the grinder that go up to it think 6 or 800 grit. For what it's wort...

Re: Decent commercially available raising hammer?

A propane forge is better for larger things in my experience. Raising elbows when the whole cop is heated annoys me since the piece gives less resistance when hot and movement becomes less focused on the area you are hammering. I prefer a torch for small stuff. Helmets and bigger things I like havi...

All of those are good options, I have footwear from each! For ones without a modern sole I buy a sole from Amazon then trim to fit and glue on with barge cement. My revival shoes are like that and they are the ones I've been fighting in.

Decent commercially available raising hammer?

Is there a decent commercially available raising hammer that won't break the bank? I see some different types on the blacksmith depot and Pieh Tool Co websites but they are all in the 6 to 8 oz range and I am not sure if they are heavy enough for armor work.

Re: Eric Thing style forge construction - Help needed

I have a lining of kaowool coated with about 1" of castable refractory. I'm not a fan of bare kaowool and I like the durability of the refractory cement. I wind up using this forge for general bar forging if I don't want to heat up the big forge, so it takes a beating. -Adair So you line the forge ...

I train outside of practice so that I am strong and fit during practice. I do barbell training, intervals and circuit training. I am adding more pure endurance work to my regimen because that is where I am most lacking but I practice is not the time to try and develop fitness, it is a time to put yo...

Sean M, I am aware. I am only looking at it from a padding g perspective not fit. Some guys don't fight with much padding at all, others like more. It's like asking what kind of armor is the best, you will get different answers from everyone. Many of the commercial ones are built with 4 layers of pa...

Re: ACL arming coat questions

It's a pretty variable question to be honest. Some people like more padding than others, but it is as a general rule thicker than what people wear for SCA fighting. I believe the one I got custom made from Quilted Armor is 4 layers, which compresses down quite a bit after a little while of wearing i...
